How to clean your condensation pump

A condensation pump is a special kind of pump that is used to pump water into either a cooling or heating system. This includes refrigeration, condensing broiler furnaces and steam systems. Some of the more common uses of condensed air is for conditioned, either heated or cooled, air into a centralized building, refrigerated air in freezing and cooling systems, and the steam used in the exhaust of furnaces that are very high in efficiency. It is very beneficial for people to use a condensation pump because it helps in reducing the costs of three different things: energy costs that also include fuel; the boiler water make-up and the sewage treatment costs; as well as boiler water chemical treatment costs.

The main units of these pumps are always found in the outside of the structure, be it a large skyscraper or a residential house. Because of this, the elements may get to it and there is always a need to clean your  condensation pump to make sure that the dirt and outside elements will not end up damaging them. These pumps that are found inside the structure can also accumulate a lot of dirt, and this is why it is good to always clean these pumps.

If the pump inside your home or building is mounted, you must first take out the two screws that are responsible for keeping it attached to the wall. Once you get this pump off the wall and you are holding the case, open the case carefully with a screwdriver. Once you have the case open, use a large bowl or bucket to store all of the dirt that has been filtered out by your  condensation pump. This is going to be really, really dirty water, so be prepared with a facemask if you are sensitive to smell.

After you have successfully taken out the dirty water from the pump, pour in some clean water into it. This clean water will be the one that will activate the pump to get it started again. The idea now is to keep pouring water through the pump as a way to sort of “cleanse” it, in that it will keep running water through the pump until all of the dirt has been taken out of the  condensation pump. Once the pump is completely clean, take out all the water. Remember to completely screw the casing shut and to put it back properly where it belongs on the mount so as to be sure that it will run smoothly again once your pump is back up and running.

Make sure that when you put in the water into the  condensation pump that all your fingers and toes are at a safe distance away. The water will activate the pump, and it might be dangerous to you if you are too near. Also, stay away from any wires that you may come across. Electricity and water is never a good mix. If you follow all of these instructions carefully and are always cautious at all times, then you will be able to clean your condensation pump without any problem.
